Recently, the Culture Committees at both the Kernersville and Pink Hill locations of Southern Pharmacy held employee social events. Over 50 Kernersville employees met for an evening of bowling in April and Pink Hill employees enjoyed a Cinco de Mayo festival complete with regional food and a piñata.
The Culture Committees were formed to provide employees a platform to organize events that would not only be fun, but would contribute to team building and community support. Through the work of these committees, pharmacy sponsored luncheons and other events have enabled employees to contribute to various local charities including Habitat for Humanity and Relay for Life.
Each committee consists of six or seven employees representing most of the pharmacy’s working departments. Meeting once a month, the committees plan events and choose how any collected proceeds will be used.
“I’m very pleased with the participation and enthusiasm the committees have shown,” said Jami Curry, HR coordinator for Kernersville. “The pharmacy employees enjoy the events and get to know each other better while contributing to the community.”
