Live classes, lead by a Southern Pharmacy nurse manager staff, along with self-paced online education, has always been a cost-free benefit offered to the non-licensed staff of Southern Pharmacy’s customer facilities. A wide variety of state-required and elective courses have enabled facility staff to earn and renew certifications and increase their skill set.
While Southern Pharmacy has always been proud of its online education offerings, the pharmacy made a big leap forward this spring. Through a partnership with the LearnWorlds online education site, 25 of the pharmacy’s online courses have migrated to a custom Southern Pharmacy educational portal. Through a graphic interface, students can select a course, learn the material, pass a quiz and receive a completion certificate that the state accepts to grant continuing education units (CEUs).
The new site not only makes it much easier for the pharmacy to add and modify courses, it also allows facility supervisors to monitor needed requirements and progress of their staff. Both students and supervisors can access the education portal easily through Southern Pharmacy’s web site at southrx.com.
“While this is just the start of our new online educational direction, we anticipate frequent additions and updates to our course offerings,” said Bob Saturn, Southern Pharmacy’s senior marketing coordinator who co-manages the site. “Information in our field is constantly changing and we want our educational offerings to reflect those changes and modifications, to the benefit of our customers.”
