Over the weekend of June 22-24, Southern Pharmacy’s Wytheville, VA location will move its operations to a new building that has been rebuilt to the pharmacy’s specifications. While the new location is only a few minutes away in the same office park, it will provide twice the square footage of the current location. “Other than the inventory, we’re transporting very little from the old building,” said Tim Pennington, Wytheville’s Director of Finance and Administration. “Virtually everything, the furniture, the counter space, the shelving will be new and set up to facilitate our streamlined workflow. The IT infrastructure will be overhauled and updated as well to provide greater capability and faster processing.”
The Wytheville pharmacy, formally Horizon Healthcare Management, became the third location of the Southern Pharmacy family in October of 2012. Their rapid growth rate, while serving Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland, required an expanded facility. Everyone has been planning this move for months and they all look forward to working in their new quarters.
